Rosmini Volleyball enjoys great start to the year
Congratulations to the Rosmini Volleyball team, who have impressed in their tournaments in 2023 so far.
After 10 games in the North Harbour Super League Competition Rosmini Premiers came second in North Harbour, finishing behind reigning NZ champs Rangitoto College.
The team followed up with a fourth in the Auckland-wide Premier league, behind Rangitoto, Manurewa and Mt Albert Grammar.
The next event on the calendar was the Auckland Volleyball Championships, held at the Bruce Pullman Centre in Takanini in March. 54 teams battled it out for three days to see who the top teams in Auckland were. We finished in our best equal position as bronze medal winners.
The game of the tournament was our semi final against Rangitoto College. Unfortunately we couldn’t quite knock them off, losing in a tight semi-final 25/23, 25/19 and 25/23.
The boys then had to pick themselves up to play Mt Albert Grammar to try to secure a medal. It was a big challenge as it was their eighth game in three days and they had given everything in their semi final against Rangitoto.
The players showed true grit and in a 2.5 hour marathon, survived three match points to beat Mt Albert Grammar 19/17 in the 5th set.
