Rosmini awarded silver at NZCF The Big Sing Cadenza Festival
On Sunday 13 August the Rosmini Chamber Choir travelled to Rotorua to compete in the NZCF The Big Sing Upper North Island Cadenza Festival. Twelve choirs from the Upper North Island were selected to attend this competition and the level of singing and performance was impressive!
Chamber Choir started early on the Monday morning with a sound check and rehearsal and performed their first recital (Night Watch Song and TaReKiTa) in the first session of the competition. They then sat back to watch the other choirs performing and participated in massed item workshops for the afternoon.
The second day of competition saw the choir again perform in the morning (Homeward Bound and Mambo Italiano). It was great to see Mr Dale at the performance who had come down for the morning to support the choir.
The culmination of the competition was the Gala Concert where the choir performed Mambo Italiano to a very appreciative audience, and then were awarded a Korimako Award (Silver) at the awards ceremony.
The post-concert student event finished off a very successful few days and we are very proud of how the choir performed and represented Rosmini College at this wonderful festival.
A big thank you to accompanists Rachel Song and Orson Paine and support staff Deputy Principal Dave Pearce and Moira Clarke.
You can watch some of their performances here.
