Silver medal for Rosmini at Mayhill Cup

Silver medal for Rosmini at Mayhill Cup

Rosmini College 1st XI Hockey team recently showcased their incredible skill, determination and sportsmanship at the Mayhill Cup. While they came oh-so-close to the ultimate victory, they secured a silver medal in a heart-pounding final match.

In what can only be described as a nail-biter of a game, our talented Rosmini team faced off against a formidable opponent from Bethlehem College. The match was a true testament of the dedication and hard work put in by our players and coaching team.

Both teams displayed exceptional teamwork throughout the game, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. With just 45 seconds left on the clock, a controversial penalty corner was awarded to Bethlehem College, resulting in a goal that brought the score to an even 2-2.

The game progressed to a heart-stopping shootout, where every player gave their all. The shootout ended in a draw, pushing the match into sudden-death shootouts. Our boys exhibited incredible composure and resilience throughout.

Though the outcome did not favour us in the end, our boys left the field with their heads held high and silver medals around their necks. Their performance was a testament to their dedication and unwavering spirit, reflecting the true “Rosmini way”.

Congratulations to the team for their incredible journey in preparation for and throughout the tournament. They will be back next year, with their eyes on the gold!

A special acknowledgement to our departing players: Ben Adolph, Hamish Berry, Jamie Cammell, Sean Harrod, Oscar Lewis, Kieran O’Grady and Reuben Paul. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors and express our gratitude for your contributions to Rosmini College, particularly with hockey.
