Filo Night 2023
On Friday 8 September Filo Night 2023 concluded with another successful year of dance, song and games!
With the participation of students from over 15 other schools around Auckland, Filo Night was able to bring together people of all cultures to explore the beauty of the Philippines for the third year in a row.
Held at Rosmini College, the program ran through 15 performances including song and dance, with breaks/intermissions or raffle prizes, food and games in between. Dance acts also included traditional dances from the Philippines such as Tinikling, Carinosa, Pandaggo sa Ilawan and Folk Dance. These different traditional dances required the performers to handle large bamboo sticks, handheld fans and candles in their hands and on their heads, which made the stage all the more vibrant and lively.
All the performers' hard work came to fruition with loud cheers and screams from the crowd, with the crowd being immersed by all the different acts, who worked diligently throughout the whole year to refine their performance.
A big thank you to all those involved, including the leadership team, volunteers, sound and lighting crew, performers, stagehands, and supervising teachers for the hard work and support put into this night! A special thanks to James Marshall, Javan Coughlan, Mr Emilio Torres and Mr Peter Keeling for helping with the parking.
