Success for Rosmini Students at the Central Auckland Model United Nations
On Saturday 3 August seven Rosmini students attended the 2024 Central Model United Nations (CMUN).
They represented countries across the world, from Monaco to Iran to Denmark. This year’s resolutions included important topics on labour rights, gender equality, and the freedom of press.
There was fierce debate in both the committee and plenary sessions, with delegates portraying their country’s, rather than personal, point of view being a must. Our boys drafted amendments, collaborating with countries with similar views. They also voted and debated others’ amendments, speaking and cross-questioning points of information.
Our boys—Anthony Angelo, Chris Huang, Lewis Leitner, Marius Lopez, Mario Najar, Max William, and Max Wong—performed exceptionally well, winning some spot prizes for confident speaking.
The event was a resounding success and our boys enjoyed it immensely. Given the nature of our entry as a school from the North Shore, as opposed to Central Auckland, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the organisers for kindly providing us the opportunity to participate at an amazing event.
We thoroughly look forward to next year’s CMUN.
