Thanksgiving Mass for Father Mark
On Tuesday 27 August we celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass for our newly ordained school Chaplain, Father Mark Bond. He was joined by his friend from seminary college, Father Alister Castillo from Christchurch.
Years 7-10 gathered in the auditorium to witness Father Mark say mass, where he reminded everyone that while people may present their best selves outwardly, everyone carries imperfections within, and that every person has an equal chance to become a saint regardless of their past. He illustrated his point by referencing Saint Augustine, who didn't live a holy life in his early years, but made the decision to become a servant of God at age 33.
Following mass Father Mark was presented with an ordination gift in the form of a custom made sports jacket with his name on it.
