Tonga Language Week celebrated with traditional lunch

To celebrate Tonga Language Week, our Pasifika community came together to host a beautiful lunch.

With Tongan music playing in the background, the students enjoyed traditional dishes including Sapasui & Alaisa (Chop Suey & rice), Oka (Raw fish), Keke Isite & Ice cream, Pineapple peach keke, Pani popo, Luau, Talo, Seafood salad, Otai, and Chicken (plus a little KFC!).

Students led grace in Tongan, and Patrick Lemeki (Y11) spoke about the theme of Tonga Language Week - sustainability - and encouraged everyone to speak the language as much as possible. The Lemeki family was represented by three proud generations - Nanna Sue, Kathline and Sakea, and Krystal and Felipe.
