Junior Water Polo teams dominate NH League

Junior Water Polo teams dominate NH League

It's been a busy water polo schedule for our Junior Water Polo teams with each team developing and improving throughout the season.

This year has seen all three Junior Water Polo teams reach Gold Finals with Junior C taking out their Gold Final last Friday against Mahurangi College 9-6.  The Junior C team has had a great season record with only one loss over the last two terms of play. The team have played well together and are well deserved winners of C Grade. A big thank you to coaches Isaac Porter and James McIndoe.

Both Junior A and Junior B have also reached their respective Gold Finals. The Junior B team's record this season has also been solid with only two narrow losses from 12 games this season overcoming a determined Rangitoto Boys B in their semi final a couple of weeks ago 6-4, booking their spot in the Gold Final against Whangaparāoa next term. Tony the Eagle made a special appearance, much to the delight of some of our intermediate and junior supporters who came to watch. Tony was with the boys on the bench and even donned the old school speedos! Again, thanks to George Parker and old boy Ethan D'Souza for coaching the Junior B team to their second Gold Final two years running.

Junior A have also had a great season with only three losses from 10 games in the lead up to their big semi final last Friday against local rivals Westlake Boys. Having played each other twice this season, both teams with a win, it was all even going into this third matchup. Junior A came out strong and put Westlake under pressure early leading at the end of the first quarter. Sticking to a tight press defence allowed our boys to get up on attack quickly resulting in Rosmini's offense being decisive and clinical. The boys' collaboration and teamwork was too much for Westlake to handle going down 10-4 at the final whistle. Junior A now set their sights on their Gold Final against Kristin who took out competition leader Rangitoto Boys A, 12-11 in the other semi final last Friday. Thanks to coaches Matt Leadbeater and old boy Will Caitlin, supported by Director of Water Polo, Lachie Griffiths, for steering Junior A to their Gold Final.

Our Junior A and Junior B team's would love to see their Rosmini brothers and supporters at their respective finals on Thursday 17 October - 7:15pm Junior B vs Whangaparāoa, and 8:35pm Junior A vs Kristin A at the AUT Millennium Pool. Wear your red and blues!
