Hāngī provides learning opportunity for science students
A group of Year 11 Physics and Earth & Space Science students (and teachers!) rose early to prepare a traditional Māori Hāngī at school, providing a unique opportunity to combine learning about culture and scientific principles.
As they dug the pit, layered the food, and covered it with earth to cook, they gained practical insight into the traditional cooking method, particularly in understanding heat transfer.
The culmination of their hard work was tasting the delicious food, making for a memorable and educational day.
