Annual Retreats underway
This week our annual Retreats kicked off with Year 11 students enjoying a day of activities, music, small discussion groups, dramas and prayer with the NET team, who present the Gospel message in a dynamic way.
The theme for the Year 11 retreat was Re-Defined. Students reflected on what it meant to be good leaders in our world today and how we can model servant leadership in every area of our life.
Students reflected on their experience...
"During my Year 11 religious retreat with the team NET, I was given the opportunity to connect and have a good time with my fellow peers through fun games and activities. The retreat also taught us new facts about Christianity, which helped us to get a better understanding of our faith in Christ. The fun games and activities that we participated in helped us build better relationships and values of leadership and communication. At the end of the retreat there was a time where we had a personal reflection - during this, we spent our time alone thinking about ourselves and and our faith. We were given a moment to pray by ourselves and also allowed to pray together with one of the team members of NET. Overall the retreat was an amazing experience that helped me appreciate the importance of my faith by shaping my identity."

"My personal experience at the Year 11 Retreat day was a positive one. I felt that the day was fun, engaging and deepening. Some things of note that I most particularly liked were the team activities, or activities in pairs, the sharing of the NET team members personal encounters with Christ, and learning about ‘Servant Leadership’. The activities were fun, such as crossing the room as a team, without stepping off of our paper trail. We had to do it whilst having our arms linked, so the groups had to really cooperate. Learning about the personal stories of the NET team members, I resonated with them about encountering Christ in the little moments, and with dealing with bad habits, and questions about our faith. Learning that others have similar or parallel experiences with me has opened my eyes to how we discover Christ and the Holy Spirit in our lives. I also enjoyed learning about the idea of ‘Servant Leadership’. I learned that true leadership is not about simply giving orders, but working with the peers, listening to and taking into consideration others ideas and plans, and being humble. A servant leader, like Jesus, is able to act with humility, understand and cooperate with others, and can work just as hard as the other team members. This interested me, and made me consider if I had been commanding others around when I’ve been given a position of leadership, or if I had worked with them. These and the other parts of the day were what made the Year 11 Retreat day a special faith filled one."
