Students visit MediaWorks
All Year 9 Media Studies students recently had the opportunity to visit the MediaWorks hub in Ponsonby.
As well as being home to many radio stations [The Rock, MaiFM, GeorgeFM, The Edge etc], this workspace also hosts advertising specialists, marketing experts, content developers, designers and podcast creators. We were able to see such a wide variety of Media Specialists at work!
Gareth Codd, a Rosmini parent and GM Digital & Operations at MediaWorks, took us on a tour of the building so that we could see right into the radio stations as they broadcast. The hosts were very friendly, waving to us and sharing with us about how their job works. Mr Codd also arranged for experts to run short workshops with us on topics like Advertising, Careers in Media, and the Design Process.
As students finish term one filming advertisements for our own products, some of the advice we got was really useful! And next term we will begin our radio study. Thank you MediaWorks for having us, and Mrs Pierce for organising this opportunity for us.
